Uphold the Quality Bottom Line, Illuminate the Path to Safety
As the year draws to a close, market regulatory authorities across the country have been conducting intensive quality inspections of lighting fixtures, with results that are closely watched by the industry and serve as a stark warning to consumers about product safety. The Shaanxi Provincial Administration for Market Regulation conducted spot checks on 30 batches of fixed general-purpose luminaires in distribution channels in Xi’an, Weinan, and other cities, finding six batches non-compliant; the issues spanned critical safety and performance indicators such as nuisance voltage, radiated interference, harmonic current, energy-efficiency class, and wiring standards. Meanwhile, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Administration for Market Regulation’s e-commerce inspections revealed that two batches of reading desks lamps and LED lamps failed to meet requirements for heat resistance, fire resistance, and tracking resistance, which can lead to deformation and combustion of insulating materials, thereby triggering electric shock, fires, and other safety hazards. In contrast, Suzhou City’s inspection of 20 batches of desk lamps—covering manufacturers, brick-and-mortar stores, and online platforms—found all samples to be compliant. Notably, the lighting fixture industry is subject to clear national standards: for example, reading desks lamps must comply with the GB/T 9473–2022 performance standard and clearly indicate an “A” or “AA” photometric rating, and such products are also subject to mandatory CCC certification; consumers should exercise caution when purchasing products lacking a genuine, valid CCC certification mark.
